Kenpo Forms
Kenpo Forms are unique in many ways. First it's easy to see that Kenpo forms are more intricate and longer than the average karate form. This isn't just because we like to do long and intricate forms, but because our Alphabet of Motion resides within our forms.
Our basic forms are Short 1, Long 1, Short 2, and Long 2. These are considered to be "Dictionary" forms, because like a dictionary, they provide brief definitions of basic movements.
Our intermediate forms are Short 3, and Long 3. These are considered to be "Encyclopedia" forms, because they provide a more in-depth understanding of the basic movements and their application.
Our advanced forms are Forms 4, 5, 6 and above. These are also considered to be "Encyclopedia" forms, in that they provide Kenpo students an opportunity to do an in-depth study of our most sophisticated movements and their underling principles. |
